How to Make a Paper Circuit with free templates

How to Make a Paper Circuit free templates

Follow this step-by-step guide to craft a paper circuit using common materials like copper tape and an LED. In 30 minutes, you'll have a functional circuit ready to light up your world.

Paper Circuit Materials

CR2032 Battery (3 volts)
Transparent Tape
LED (5mm or 10mm)
Paperclip or Binder Clip
Optional: Circuit Stickers, Buzzer

Tools You'll Use:

Scoring Tool
X-Acto Knife
Scissors

Step by step How to Make a Paper Circuit

Download the template

First, download the simple paper circuit template at the bottom.

Step 1: Apply Copper Tape

Stick the copper tape on the brown lines of your template. Make sure to leave a small gap where you'll put the LED.

Step 2 – Score and Fold Corner:

Use a scoring tool to lightly press the fold so it's nice and neat. Then, fold the corner at a 45-degree angle to line up the two circles.

Step 3: Add the LED

Find the positive leg (+) of your LED by checking the picture.
If the legs are the same length, look for the flat side of the LED to find the negative side (-).
Tape the LED to the copper lines and bend the legs to fit.
Make sure the longer leg is on the positive (+) copper tape.

Step 4: Secure the Flap (Optional)

You can use a paper clip to hold the corner flap in place.
Then, put the coin battery on the copper tape, with the negative (-) side facing down.
When you fold the flap, the positive (+) side of the copper tape should touch the battery's positive side.
