Paper Circuit Materials

  1. Copper Tape (1/4”) with Conductive Adhesive
  2. Transparent Tape
  3. Coin Cell Battery (3v) CR2032
  4. LED – 5mm or 10mm
  5. Paper Clip or Binder Clip
  6. Paper Circuit Template

Tools You'll Use:
  1. Scoring Tool
  2. X-Acto Knife
  3. Scissors

Step 1: Apply Copper Tape

First download and print the template.

On the brown lines template, Start by placing copper tape on all of the brown trace lines on the template. Use your finger to smooth out the tape, ensuring good adhesion. Remember to leave a gap in the tape for the LED.

Step 2: Fold Copper Tape

Fold the copper tape at all corners, aiming for a continuous strip with no breaks. This step is crucial for maintaining conductivity in your circuit.

Step 3: Position the Battery

With the negative (-) side facing down, place the CR2032 battery on top of the copper tape. This completes the power source for your circuit.

Step 4: Fold the Template

Fold the corner of your template along the line, using a scoring tool to assist if needed. Secure the corner with a paperclip, ensuring stability during assembly.

Step 5: Attach the LED

Bend the legs of the LED at a 90-degree angle and use clear tape to affix it to the copper tape. Remember, the longer leg of the LED connects to the positive side of the battery.

Step 6: Cut the Circle:

Make sure to cut out a circle on the other side of the template. When you fold the card from the center and complete the circuit, the LED light will shine through the circle from the front side of your Mother's Day card.

Step 7: Color and Decorate:

Now, let's decorate the front of the card! Draw or cut some fun images on the other side of the template.

For smaller kids, you can simply print the other template on the back side of the circuit template.

Kids can use markers, colored pencils, or any other art supplies to add color and creativity to your Mother's Day card. Once you've created your designs, glue your decorations onto the front of the card. Get creative and make it your own Mother's Day masterpiece!

When you're done, don't forget to write a heartfelt message inside to show your mom just how much she means to you.
