Materials

1. Pinwheel template or  paper or cardstock

2. Two pieces of drinking straw (1cm)  

3. One Drinking straw, skewer, or chopstick 

4. One chenille stem (pipe cleaner), at least 4 inches long

5. Scissors

6. Pencil

7. Coloring materials

8. Hole punch or pencil for making a small hole

     Ruler (optional)

Step-by-Step DIY Assembly Instructions

First and foremost, download the template from the bottom; it is completely free. Then download and print it. Cut out the template or use a square piece of paper.

Color both sides of the template.

Cut along the lines but stop before the center.

Fold every other corner toward the center.

Fold the second corner toward the center.

Fold the third corner toward the center.

Fold the last corner toward the center.

Now it's time to cut two small circles from paper and paste one on each side to secure the paper and prevent it from tearing.

Make a small hole in the center. Then insert a 1 cm piece of straw into the hole.

Push the pipe cleaner through another 1 cm straw piece. Join both ends of the pipe cleaner to make a small loop. Insert this straw piece into the straw attached to the pinwheel.

Pull the pipe cleaner out from the back. Tighten it, then insert it into the straw used as the holder, as shown in the picture.
