How to Make a Pinwheel, DIY Safe Pinwheels - Pin-Free Pinwheels That Spin!



Materials Needed:

  1. (Printout the template) available at the bottom or a Square piece of patterned or recycled paper or
  2. Scissors
  3. Glue stick
  4. Plastic straw
  5. Chenille stem (pipe cleaner)





Instructions:

Prepare the Paper:

Download and printout the template or Take a square piece of patterned or recycled paper.

Fold it diagonally to find the exact center, creating an X-crease pattern. 


Sharpen the Folds:

Use a pencil eraser or a credit card to run along the crease lines to sharpen the folds.

Cut the Paper:

Cut along each crease from the outer edge towards the center, stopping halfway to avoid cutting through the center.

Fold and Glue:

Fold one corner of each cut section towards the center.

Do this with all 4 corners and then attach them in the center with adhesive.


Prepare the Stem:

Cut a small piece from a plastic straw.




Attach the Chenille Stem:

It is optional to  Thread a chenille stem through the glued center of the pinwheel and secure it by wrapping it around the straw piece.   

Assemble the Pinwheel:

Attach the pinwheel to the plastic straw using the chenille stem, ensuring the pinwheel can spin freely. You also stick the straw or ice cream stick directly back to the pinwheel center.
